Submission Guidelines
. . .
. We hope you enjoy reading through The ARK of TITAN's historic issues. Since TITANzine is no longer accepting new work, please consider sending your material to The SPIRAL SEA, which seeks to extend TITAN's legacy, and to carry on many of its traditions... as well as to introduce some new ones. We look forward to seeing your work! .
. . .

Please follow these simple guidelines when submitting to SPIRAL SEA. Although we accept stories with strong language and imagery, please be aware that excessive use of strong language and imagery generally tends to detract from a story, taking from it its believability.

We will consider anything that is speculative fiction. Each story will be judged on its own merits.

SPIRAL SEA seeks to publishing high quality SF&F stories, true adventure, speculative articles, and original graphics by amateur authors and artists. All rights to your material, beyond those connected with publication once electronically in SPIRAL SEA, are retained by you the author or artist. A short biography is required from each contributor, and we would like a small photo as well. We'll link to your homepage, also, if you like.

Stories can be submitted to The Spiral Sea in any format. We prefer simple HTML (we'll do the required page formatting), plain text or .rtf format, but any version of Microsoft Word, Word Perfect, or WordPro is okay, too. Keep in mind that HTML pages generally permit only a "default" and a limited number of other type faces to reliably appear on your readers' machines. Fancy fonts used as part of a text treatment generally don't work.

Please allow two to four weeks for our reply. If your story is accepted, we will make no content changes without suggesting the changes to you first. As for editing typos and grammar, we will make those changes regardless. Your story must be readable to be enjoyable.

Graphics are special to us. If you want to submit your original artwork, please do! We prefer a file size of about 200k max for JPG, at high resolution, which we will re-worked into an appropriately sized screen image of about 15k to 80k at 96 dpi, and a link to a higher resolution image if you wish to make it available. If you want to make your art available for sale, we'll add a link to your website, or work out an arrangement. Make your wishes known in your e-mail to us.

We do NOT accept simultaneous submissions. We also prefer original work but will look at previously published work if you still own the right to make it available. Please tell us if your story has been previously published, when and where.

One last item. The length of your story is unimportant. If you would like to publish your novel or novella, we will read it and judge it on its own merits.
